Challenge Alaska has been selected as one of the charities that will appear as part of the 2009 Permanent Fund Application. When individuals complete their 2009 Permanent Fund Applicaitons they will be able to designate a portion of their Permanent Fund to be donated to Challenge Alaska as a charitable contribution. Thanks to all those who worked hard under the leadership of the Foraker Group and the Alaska Giving Coalition to create a Charitable Giving Program as part of the PFD. "Alaskan's have always been very giving and now they have another resource to aid them in their philanthropy." said Beth Edmands, Executive Director of Challenge Alaska.

World Class Mono-skier Laurie Stephens (New Hampshire) will be the featured guest athlete at the Fall 2008 Alaska Paralmypic Academy. The Academy is scheduled for Saturday, October 25 at the Fairview Recreation Center from 1:00 - 5:00 PM. The Academy focuses on youth with physical disabilities ages 12-18 and provides opportunities for education and participation along the following tracks: Athletes and potential athletes of all levels of experience and physical ability will learn about wheelchair basketball/boccia ball and team wheelchair handball Parents of athletes and potential athletes will learn about Paralympic Sport and the opportunities that they provide - including opportunities at the University level Featured at the Academy will be a Paralympic Athlete Guest Speaker.
